Amazing! Thursday was Jennifer and I 6th year anniversary, that is the day we first met.

Now you would have told me six years ago that I will be married, living in the US with 3 kids I would have said: "Me? No way!".

Yesterday, on Saturday, Jill&Brock let us have a night out without the kids to celebrate. We went to a seafood restaurant Mc Grath's I think, and had a big platter of shrimps, crabs and scallops...
...Oh and we also bought a car the same day thanks to Jen's Dad letting us use his insurance company for the papers. Now, I will have my own car ready to pass my driving test. First we have to get the car's number plates which happens to be at the same office than where I need to pass the driving license driven test. Thanks to Jennifer, everthing is falling into place pretty fast!

For the curious ones we got a Chevrolet Uplander from 2005 and feel we got a great deal no it even if it's a lot of money to invest right at the start, but what can you get for $8,100 when you buy a family car those days?...

My experience driving in the US so far is that it's pretty easy. The roads are large and people driver relatively slow compared to Germany. In the smaller town, the large "Avenue"-type road (that's the best comparison I can make to European looking road) are made of 7 lanes. 3 lanes going one way and 3 the other way. The middle lane allows cars to turn left. This middle lane looks weird in that the continuous line is exactly reverse to what you would expect for a middle turning lane. I tried to symbolize this in using ";" for discontinuous marks on the road and | for a continuous mark on the road: lane1;lane2;lane3|;middle_lane4;|lane5;lane6;lane7

Go figure! Appart from that and the fact you can turn right at a red traffic light apart in the state of New York or when it's indicated otherwise. And Appart from the fact that car can pass you on the right hand side, it is not much different than in Europe.

I must apologize for the boring fact but I make this blog as much for me as for you guys, and I am attempting to make a fair account of my first impressions and experience of arriving in the US.

For example, I think the food is a bit to much fat/sweetbread with garlic butter/re-proceed sugar products/battered or salted meat oriented. The steaks are great though!
I also like the choice of cereals and I do plan on cooking more for my family the way I understand healthy cooking should be. I want to start with some Italian cooking book first... let see how that turns out!

Jeudi était le 6ème anniversaire de ma première rencontre avec Jennifer. Si on m’aurait dis que dans 6 ans je serrai marié avec 3 enfants et habiterai aux États-Unis je vous aurai sûrement dis : "marrie peut-être, faut-il encore que je trouve une femme qui me convienne, mais les États-Unis? et trois enfants déjà? impossible!".

Samedi, Jill et Brock se sont occupe de nos enfants pendant de l'on fêtait notre anniversaire dans une restaurant de fruits de mer: crabe, St Jacques et crevettes mmh on s'est régalé.

Dans la même journée, sur la route de Jill&Brock (dans la même ville) on est allé essayer 2 voitures familiales que Jennifer avait détectée déjà depuis un bon moment depuis l'Allemagne. On a acheté la plus cher des deux. On est arrivé négocier le prix car l'autre était vraiment en trop mauvais état. On pense que c'est une bonne affaire. C'est un Uplander de Chevrolet en verre foncé métallisé de 2005, un mini-bus familial comme ils les font ici un peu plus grand qu'un Espace.

Elle a beaucoup de kilometre mais c'est normal avec toutes les autoroutes ici... ...au moins le moteur est propre et elle fait un bon bruit, on ne l'entend presque pas lorsqu'on est à l’intérieur.

Les règles de conduite ici sont tres similaire à l'europe. La difference est que leurs routes principales ressemblent à des avenues avec 7 vois, la septième permettant de se mettre au centre pour pouvoir tourner à gauche. Sur ces Avenues on trouve des boutiques specialisées dans des bâtiments séparés. On trouve de tout, d'un magasin spécialisé dans les costumes jusqu'aux mécanicien du coin.

Autrement il y a aussi une vois réservée aux personnes faisant du co-voiturage sur les autoroutes et/ou ayant plus d'une personne à bord. Aussi on a droit de tourner a droite aux feux rouges.

J'ai décidé de me mettre à faire un peu de cuisine car ce qui est près-à-manger ici et soit trop sucré ou trop gras.

Wir haben eine gutes "Deal" gehabt weil die Jennifer hat viel auto von Deutschland unter Internet gesucht. Das war der bessere "Deal". Nacher haben wir die Kinder beim Schwiegerschwester gelassen. Wir hatten eine besondere Tag zu Feiern, unsere 6 Jahr zusammen Kennerlen Tag!
Wir sind in ein Seefruchtrestaurant. Das war lecker! Inswichen die Kinder haben viel spass mit Ihrem Vettern gehabt.

Die Verkehrsregeln sind ein bissen anders hier aber insgesamt der Gleiche. Außer von das Recht zum recht abbiegen beim Ampeln.

Ich werde auch versuchen Italienisch zu kochen um ein bissen weniger Zucker und fett zu essen.
