Visit with Thierry's grandparents in France - January 4, 2015

We went to visit Thierry's remaining 3 grandparents on our way back home.  It was great to see them all again.  All of my grandparents have passed away so it is great Thierry has 3 still alive.  His other grandfather passed away 7 months ago so at the time we moved to the Netherlands all 4 of Thierry's grandparents were still alive.  I guess that means Thierry has a long life ahead of him.

His grandfather, and godfather, Louis Cailleau is now 95 years old.  He is currently living in an assisted living facility and has problems speaking and remembering all of us but he was very happy we came for a visit and still has his smiling eyes.  Julien's middle name Louis was named after him and the name Julien comes from his great-grandfather Julien on his mother's side.  So he was named after 2 of Thierry's grandparents.  Aurelie was named after my great-grandmother Goldie Lowe on my Mother's side.  Aurelie is the French version of the name Goldie.

These pictures were taking in the garden and dining area of the Cailleau Grandparents.  We stopped by the house to have lunch and visit with Thierry's Aunt and Uncle as well as his Grandmother Cailleau.

View from our hotel in Cambrils, Spain - January 3, 2015

Here is the amazing view from the balcony of our hotel in Cambrils, Spain.  It was great to be able to walk to the beach and see the beautiful blue of the Mediterranean Sea.

Castellet Castle and Sitges, Spain - January 1, 2015

We decided to follow some great advice from a friend and go to Sitges, Spain.  On the way we drove past Castellet Castle (Castellet i la Gornal).  It was so beautiful we had to stop and take some pictures.  Xavier also got very sick during the drive so we had to stop several times for him to get out.  Poor little guy.

This is right next to the castle where the Foix River was is dammed to form the Foix Reservoir.

We finally arrived in Sitges but Xavier was so sick he spent a lot of time in the bathroom at the restaurant we went to and then just sat down outside.  So we made our visit short and headed back to the hotel.

Here are some pictures of the beautiful beach in Sitges where they had a great playground for Julien and Aurelie to play.

Some surfers enjoying the waves of the Mediterranean Sea.

At least Julien and Aurelie had some fun for the short time we were there.  Aurelie got sick 2 days later as soon as we arrived back at Thierry's parents house in France. Julien was sick during our drive back to the Netherlands the following day.  At least they are all feeling better now and we had enough bags and buckets in the car to prevent any messy disasters.  So sad when little kids are sick.
